How To Get Your Gmail On Your Phone as SMS

You simply log in to https://www.google.com/settings/account ,

1. Go to ‘phone and SMS setting s’ and you are prompted to enter and verify your mobile phone number to interact with your account using SMS. Add your phone number and your country code and then click to Send verification code to your phone.  
   
2. You are then provided this warning by gmail “Note: SMS is less secure and may be less reliable than web-based communication. All messages sent by SMS are sent via your mobile operator’s network without encryption”.  The warning is only to let you know of the possible implications of using it.
3. Check your phone for the message sent from Google, come back to the page you are working on and input the code you received into the box provided.
4. Check ‘Notifications and forwarding email’ and then check ‘Forward my incoming email messages. This would make you receive incoming emails on your phone as SMS messages. Then the next box says ‘Google may contact me to invite me to participate in surveys. Check the box if you would like to participate in Google’s periodic surveys.
5. A message is sent to your phone and it reads “Receive emails for free. Your credit starts with 30 emails. When you reply to an email you get 7 more”. That is it. Your settings are saved automatically as soon as you finish filling the details. You are set to start receiving emails through SMS and replying to them keeps the conversation going and your credits keep increasing as you make the whole process interactive.
6. Google also sends you an SMS message with the option of pausing or resuming SMS messages whenever you feel like it.
